The bad job cycle and how to break it

A few weeks ago, a CFO asked me, with real frustration, “Why do we keep creating such bad jobs?”

Said with the kind of defeat that suggested it’s unsolvable.

And maybe it is, if we listen to the latest KPMG CEO survey, where 83% of CEOs of large companies ($500m+ revenue) believe an answer to their challenges is simply getting people back in the office five days a week.

Think about that. The one thing employees don’t want is the silver bullet for productivity, engagement, innovation, burnout, collaboration?

In this vlog, I share a simple, three-minute exercise I ask leaders to do, and yes they do squirm. Some try to leave the room. But afterwards? They say something shifted.

What are your solutions to breaking the bad job cycle? Share your thoughts below.

PS. On a related theme Bruce and I explored burnout this week. It’s on my feed.
