A big fat lie we tell ourselves (Victoria Starmer knows the truth)

Warning: this vlog is going to piss some of you off!

It's about how we judge "podium people" based on their wardrobe. And by podium people, I mean anyone who's professionally in the spotlight—not just those of us who prance around on stage.

Feel free to express your rage, frustration or begrudging agreement: Joeli Brearley joins me with her fabulously grounded perspective.

In a bid to distract you from just being annoyed, these are 5 things that work for me:

👠 Shoes to run around in. More confidence, more energy, fewer clacking heels.

👕 ‘Under’ t-shirts. Reduce cleaning, protect your clothes.

⛴️ An outfit theme for a whole week (this week is Navy week). Keeps social media repetition manageable (will be sorely tested next week when I have four gigs).

💷 Secondhand and Vinted for a sustainable wardrobe, oh yes.

♨️ A steamer: essential if, like my mother, you know life is too short for ironing.

🐕 Dog walking clothes for all the non-podium moments of your life.

What works for you?

On a different subject if you’re curious about the ripple (or avalanche?) effect of Amazon's five-day return policy, Bruce Daisley and I had a Zoom chat about its impact on other sectors. Check out the post below. And yes, OF COURSE I've always fancied myself as an agony aunt... #ClaireRayner, anyone?
